Conduct on the water
The skipper has command authority during the session. Sailors follow every order immediately and without argument. Personal grievances are raised on shore, never on the water.
- 2
Attendance
Confirmed attendance is binding. Late arrivals are not accommodated; the boat will depart on schedule. Repeated absence without prior notice is treated as a discipline matter.
- 3
Safety
Personal flotation devices are mandatory in all conditions. Sailors who cannot swim must declare this on registration and wear a PFD continuously. Substance use prior to a session results in immediate removal.
- 4
Health disclosure
Pre-existing conditions (cardiac, respiratory, allergies, medication) must be disclosed on registration. Concealment is grounds for membership termination.
- 5
Payments
Fees are paid in cash to the coach. The system records every transaction. Late payments trigger automatic discipline: warning at 1 day, removal from upcoming sessions at 3 days, suspension at 7 days, expulsion at 14 days. The system does not negotiate.
- 6
Equipment
Damage caused by negligence is invoiced to the responsible sailor. The skipper signs off on equipment condition before and after every session.
- 7
Peer ratings
Anonymous peer ratings (technical, teamwork, reliability) are submitted after every session. False or malicious ratings are grounds for review.
- 8
Confidentiality
The coach maintains confidential notes for crew composition. These notes are never disclosed to other sailors.
- 9
Skipper qualification
The Skipper badge is awarded only by the head coach after demonstrated capability. Self-proclaimed skippers are not recognised.
- 10
Withdrawal
A sailor may withdraw at any time by written notice. Outstanding cash payments remain due.
- 11
Data and KVKK
Personal and health data are processed by Yelken G solely for the operation of academy services, in accordance with KVKK. Sailors may request access or rectification by writing to the head coach.
- 12
Acknowledgement of risk
Sailing carries inherent risks (drowning, injury, exposure, equipment failure). The academy provides instruction and supervision but cannot eliminate risk. Sailors accept this risk on registration.
These rules are enforced automatically and consistently across every account, including coaches.
